A Thought Bubble Helps the Children see a Concrete Image of Their Thinking
Each Student paired up with a partner and shared one bubble.
The students took turns holding the thought bubble and telling their partner what they were thinking. Turn-taking worked well to have the students practice verbalizing and making an effort to think about the story.
Some Stories that Worked Well
1. Deep in the Forest (Wordless book based on the Three Bears)
This wordless book contains images of the Three Humans and is based on the story of The Three Bears . The expressions and drawing are wonderful and each reader is able to make connections as the pictures reveal the little bear wandering through the "people" house.
2. Another wordless story for inviting students to "Think About What They Are Reading" is Pancakes for Breakfast
This story slowly reveals the "old fashion" way of using farm ingredients to make pancakes.
LEARNING COLOR WORDS
The Cutest Little Color Train Song by Dr. Jean
The students S-P-E-L-L each of the color words during the song.
Elmer provides a great opportunity for the students to build on reading color words through this little coloring activity I designed.
